Metro Exodus gets Enhanced Edition for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S / X this year, and graphically it will look so much more brutal that it will not be just a regular patch for the PC version, but a separate version of the game. One of the most visually impressive games of 2019 will get its next-gen upgrade that promises even more impressive visuals. Technically, we already knew that the Metro Exodus was getting an "enhanced" release for the PS5 and Xbox Series S / X, but now the same has been announced for the PC, with an approximate release date and a few details on what to expect from the upgrade. First of all, it will be a free upgrade for all Metro Exodus owners on PC and PlayStation 4 or Xbox One consoles. According to the official website, the focus of this visual upgrade will of course be on popular ray tracing. It will be the first time we see this game with ray tracing effects on consoles, but the PC version that supported ray tracing back in 2019 will get additional improvements in this regard through this Enhanced Edition. In short, the developers have developed a completely new ray tracing-based lighting system that should represent a significant upgrade over the already quite robust ray tracing lighting system seen in 2019 in the PC version. We can also expect a sharper image with clearer details, but also better performance. The new consoles will also use their SSD for significantly shorter loads, and they promise to take advantage of the specifics of each new console, so for example they will use customizable triggers on the DualSense controller for additional immersion when playing. In other words, you’ll feel resistance on the trigger as you pump your Tikhar in the middle of a tense fight - sounds good! With all these ray-tracing effects, the game will spin on PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles in 4K resolution at 60 FPS (we expect upscaling, but still a sharp image) while on a slightly weaker Xbox Series S console they aim for 1080p resolution with the same framerate and ray-tracing effects. The PC version of Enhanced Edition will be so significantly different from the regular version of the game that it will be a separate release, which you can't run without a ray tracing-capable GPU. See the image below for a direct view of all the new technologies brought by the “enhanced” release. Finally, we were treated to a screenshot from the PC version of Enhanced Edition with all the effects at 1000 (click on the image for full resolution).
